The Portogrande Shopping Center is a historic center of IGD’s portfolio, it opened in 1997 and was acquired in 2001. Portogrande has always given us great satisfaction in terms of performance, but, following the agreement signed in 2018 with Coop Alleanza 3.0, tenant of the hypermarket, for the reduction of its sales area, we decided to take the opportunity to proceed with a restyling project of the entire center.
Portogrande is located in a strategic area near the A14 motorway, where there is no strong competition so it is one of the leading commercial structures in its catchment area. The center is frequented by residents of the area, especially families, and by tourists who arrive in the summer and is therefore strongly integrated with the area characterized by culture, art, history, sea and nature.
This link with the territory was the source of inspiration that guided the restyling project, in fact the mall was imagined as the promenade of palm trees that are taken up in colors, geometries and decorative elements. The project also includes energy efficiency interventions such as the complete relamping of the building and car parks, with the introduction of LED lighting and 3 new high energy efficient rooftops.
In 2019 we launched a competition of ideas between various architectural firms to identify who would take care of the project and the task was assigned to Lombardini22, who had already carried out the restyling of the Centrosarca in Milan for us. In 2020, the intervention to reduce the hypermarket area was completed and the design phase of the restyling was also completed, while in the second half of 2022 ended the remodeling of the spaces resulting from the hypermarket’s reduction with the creation of 3 new medium surfaces and a new square inside the mall. On 23rd November 2023 the complete restyling of the Center has been inaugurated.
